These sandwiches are so easy, and so flavorful, you’ll never buy expensive takeout again.
1 1/2lb thin cut steaks (I used eye of round)
¼ cup red wine
1 TBSP olive oil
¼ tsp pepper
1 ½ cups onions, cut into strips
1 ½ cups mushrooms, sliced
¼ cup green pepper cut into strips
3-4 cloves garlic, chopped
2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
Place steaks in a baking dish and pour just enough red wine over them to wet them. I then drizzle about 1 TBSP of olive oil over them. Sprinkle with pepper and refrigerate for at least an hour. In the meantime, you can cut your onions,
mushrooms, garlic and green pepper, or just go put your feet up because once you are ready to cook these, they’ll be done in just a few minutes.
Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Slice, butter and sprinkle garlic powder on your rolls. Cook until desired toastiness is achieved.
Drizzle a small amount of olive oil in the same pan. Add the mushrooms and green pepper and sauté for 2 minutes. Add the onions and garlic, and continue cooking until onions are soft. Remove from pan and place in a small bowl.
In the same pan, drizzle olive oil and add about a teaspoon of Worcestershire sauce. Cook the steaks for one sandwich at a time. Cook only two minutes per side in the very hot pan. You can add a sprinkle of salt here if you want to.
Place on toasted roll, cover with cheese, and then add the hot veggies. Serve.
Steak sandwich, sub, or on a roll.
